MONTEGO BAY, Jamaica — Project DYNAMO, the U.S.-based veteran-led nonprofit, has successfully initiated evacuation and relief operations in Jamaica as part of Operation Cool Runnings following the devastating impact of Hurricane Melissa, a historic Category 5 storm.

The Project DYNAMO team landed in Montego Bay, Jamaica, at 8:30 AM Eastern Time and immediately began coordinating evacuations of stranded Americans. In close cooperation with the Jamaican Ministry of Tourism, the U.S. Department of State, and Jamaican Customs and Immigration, the first passenger flights carrying Americans departed Montego Bay today.

Two planes, operated by Project DYNAMO volunteers, carried a total of eight passengers and departed Montego Bay en route to Key West, Florida, around 6 PM Eastern Time. These flights mark the beginning of ongoing air-bridge operations to evacuate Americans and deliver critical aid. In addition to the Project DYNAMO team, these flights also brought in three emergency medical personnel from a partner organization to support on-the-ground efforts.

Project DYNAMO’s ground team remains on the ground in Jamaica, delivering humanitarian relief and conducting search and rescue operations throughout western Jamaica.

Since its founding in 2021, Project DYNAMO has conducted high-impact missions in Afghanistan, Israel, Ukraine, Haiti, Maui, North Carolina, Southwest Florida, and other regions, rescuing thousands from war zones, natural disasters, and flooded areas.
