A U.S. Army lieutenant colonel was safely released last week after an unexpected and alarming detainment by Mexican authorities near Baja California, Mexico. The officer had been attending a private event when he was taken into custody under unclear circumstances.
Upon learning of the incident, Project DYNAMO rapidly mobilized, working closely with relevant contacts on both sides of the border to help secure the officer’s release and ensure his safe return.
“This was a sensitive and urgent situation,” said Mario Duarte, president and CEO of Project DYNAMO. “As Americans and as veterans, we are especially attuned to the needs of our service members, particularly when they find themselves in harm’s way. We are thankful for the cooperation of all parties involved, and most importantly, we are relieved that the officer is now safe and back on American soil.”
In a brief statement, the officer said, “I appreciate the professionalism and support of everyone involved. I am grateful to Project DYNAMO for stepping in when it mattered most.”
Due to the nature of the case and in respect of the individual’s privacy, the officer’s identity is not being disclosed.
Project DYNAMO, a veteran-led nonprofit, has carried out hundreds of successful rescue and extraction missions across the globe. The organization remains steadfast in its commitment to protect American citizens, anywhere and anytime.
