Tampa, Fla. – Project DYNAMO, a veteran-led nonprofit organization, which conducts humanitarian search-and-rescue operations domestically and internationally, is congratulating their own board member Ron Johnson on his selection to serve as the next U.S. Ambassador to Mexico.
“Project DYNAMO has made significant strides and has undoubtedly benefitted from Ron Johnson’s service on our board,” said Mario Duarte, President and CEO of Project DYNAMO. “His diplomatic and covert intelligence skills, as well as his military background, have been a major driving force behind carrying out our mission of rescuing Americans from warzones abroad. I have no doubt that even with the strained relationship between the United States and Mexico, Ron will be successful in his new role.”
Johnson, a retired Army colonel and green beret who later served for two decades as a Senior Operations and Paramilitary Officer in the CIA, was selected for his new position by President-Elect Donald J. Trump just a few days ago. Trump selected him to serve as the U.S. Ambassador to El Salvador in 2019, a position that he held until 2021.
Johnson spoke well of the Project DYNAMO team, too.
“In my time as a board member for Project DYNAMO, I have been nothing short of amazed by the work this group has done,” he said. “We don’t just talk the talk, we walk the walk. Each day, our skilled team of former military and intelligence experts are diligently focused on saving American lives across the globe, and with our new Archangel counter human trafficking initiative, I expect DYNAMO to be a great asset as I settle into my new role as Ambassador to Mexico.”
Recently, Project DYNAMO expanded their operations to include counter human trafficking efforts, a project dubbed Archangel. In that capacity, the group plans to work with the U.S. and foreign governments, as well as law enforcement entities at all levels, to rescue victims of human trafficking from vicious cartels and other dangerous groups.
The organization will also continue to pursue the mission upon which Project DYNAMO was founded: extracting Americans from warzones and natural disasters where the federal government cannot or will not go.
Founded during the U.S. pullout from Afghanistan in 2021, Project DYNAMO is an international search, rescue, aid and assistance 501(c)(3) non-profit organization headquartered in Tampa, Florida with worldwide operations. Project DYNAMO operates where the United States government cannot, or does not. The primary objective of Project DYNAMO is to provide assistance to those impacted in disaster areas and conflict zones throughout the world. Notably, Project DYNAMO conducted the first air-rescue missions from Afghanistan after the Taliban took control, and has negotiated the release and exfiltrated numerous Americans from captivity and false imprisonment.
